- Says participation of youth in Sports, a great panacea against the Drug menace
SHOPIAN: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar today inaugurated a sports event under Action Plan for National Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR), organised by Social Welfare Department at Sports Stadium Batapora, here in order to create awareness on the drug addiction.
A Cricket match was organised in which specially-abled persons participated, highlighting the importance of inclusivity and determination. On this occasion, the DC said that the event is aimed to provide a platform for talented players with disabilities to showcase their skills, foster a sense of camaraderie and promote awareness on drug de-addiction through sports activities.
The DC further added that such initiatives not only encourage participants to break barriers but also inspire the community at large to support adaptive sports. Sports activities are a great panacea against the rising menace of Drug Addiction, said DC while highlighting the significance of sports in the war against the Drugs. District Social Welfare Officer, Tehsildar Shopian, Tehsildar Keegam, and other concerned were present.
