JAMMU: A national seminar was organized by People’s Hut Foundation today at S. Sidharatha Training Institute Jammu on the theme “Kidney Transplant CME” (Why should one go for Kidney Transplant? Recent Advances in Kidney Transplant) the seminar was supported by Diva International Foundation, Kanval International Rehabilitation Foundation and was hosted by S. Sidharatha Training Institute Jammu.
“Chronic Kidney Disease is an important public health problem in the world and in our country. However, low awareness of the disease prevents early diagnosis. Due to individuals’ lack of awareness, end-stage renal failure develops and negatively affects the individual’s quality of life. Therefore in order to draw attention to kidney health in the society this seminar was organized,” said Dr. Rohit Koul. Director and CEO of People’s Hut Foundation. He added Equal Access to Optimal Drug Applications and Health Care for Kidney Health” is the need of the hour.
The National seminar was held at the conference Hall of S. Sidharatha Training Institute Jammu and was also broadcasted live on the official Facebook Page of People’s Hut Foundation, The Speaker was Dr. Varun Mittal who has done MBBS, MS (General surgery), M.Ch. (Urology and Kidney Transplant), SGPGIMS Lucknow and DNB (Genitourinary Surgery) along with a Fellowship in Minimal Invasive and Robotic Urology, Obs. Fellowship in Robotic Urologic Surgery, from University of Miami, USA.
He specializes in Kidney Transplant and Advanced Robotic Urologic Cancer Surgery. His areas of interest are swap / paired kidney exchange, ABO/HLA incompatible and deceased organ kidney transplants. He has been one of the key persons in successful kidney transplant program in eminent institutes for over a decade. His academic career has been studded with achievements and has been awarded with Gold medal for best robotic surgery video by AMASI.
He is a recipient of the International Travel fellowship award by the American Urologic Association in 2015. He has authored many book chapters and research articles. He has presented various research papers, posters, surgical videos in various urologic and organ transplant conferences both national and international forums. The Seminar which was attended by a large group of 138 People including students, Faculty Members, Social Health Workers provided insights into the significance of kidney diseases for society, discussed risk factors, Dialysis Procedure, Kidney Transplant treatment methods, and emphasized the importance of preventive health services such as screening programs. He also discussed treatment methods and underscored the importance of organ donation and kidney transplantation.
The welcome address was given by S. Amardeep Singh and the session was coordinated by Mr. Siddharth Mahajan, Chairman of S. Sidharatha Training Institute Jammu along with Vote of Thanks.
