KATHUA: The Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt of India, Field Office, Kathua, in collaboration with the Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom organised a two-day photo exhibition at Village Lakhri ( Gujroo Nagrota) in Billawar of Kathua district on Monday. The event was held under the patronage of Sh. Ghulam Abbas (IIS) Director of CBC J&K and Ladakh.
The programme was inaugurated by Sh. Suraj Prakash Rukwal, Director, Directorate of Handloom and Handicrafts, Jammu in presence of Sh. Ghulam Abbas and Sh. Narayan Dutt Tripathi, BDC Member, besides other dignitaries.A live demonstration session of artisans performing the bamboo art was established by the Directorate of Handloom in addition to other stalls.
In the photo exhibition, many components of Mission Life were exhibited by CBC. A large number of villagers, community members, artisans , youth and adolescent girls attended the programme. In his remarks Sh. Suraj P Rakwal said that rural artisans of Jammu are emerging very rapidly in the present time, using different govt schemes. He urged the artisans to take maximum benefits of the govt schemes so that the challenge of unemployment can be tackled. He mentioned many schemes for establishing the startupâs in the area using the locally available resources.
In his remarks Sh Ghulam Abbas said that these kinds of programmes in far off places bring a spark of energy among the common public. He said that these programmes are the best ways to connect the common public to the different welfare schemes of the government. He urged the public to attend the two day programme in large numbers.
During the programme Sh, Narayan Dutt, BDC Member, thanked the CBC for organising such an event at this place and urged to organise similar programmes in future too.
Earlier, the welcome address was presented by Dr Rohini, Assistant Director, Handicrafts, Billawar and the Vote of thanks was presented by Sh, Rajesh Sharma, incharge, CBC Jammu/Samba/ Kathua.
Other components of the programme were a Plantation drive on âEk Ped Maa Ke Naam". On the occasion, silence was also observed to pay homage to the Kargil War soldiers who laid their lives 25 years back.
