KISHTWAR: District Development Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan today held a mega public outreach Cum Awareness camp in Paddar area of the District. The main purpose was to educate the public about government policies, especially the YUVA mission and PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Scheme besides listening to their grievances. The event saw active participation from residents of Massu, Chisoti, Kundal Karthie, Ligri, Sole and nearby areas.
Speaking at the awareness camp, the DC encouraged locals to avail benefits of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Scheme, Skill Development scheme, HADP benefits and water conservation initiatives. The DC emphasized the need to promote Paddar's renowned Kala Zeera, the cultivation of millets, and organic farming as part of broader agricultural development efforts.
He also laid special focus on key schemes like Mission Yuva and the Apprenticeship Training Program, urging youth aged 18-39 to register on a large scale in the ongoing survey to benefit from these initiatives in future. District and Sectoral officers also imparted awareness to locals about the schemes of respective departments. Multiple departments set up stalls to promote their schemes, providing awareness, and offered on-the-spot assistance to the public.
The ACD provided detailed insights into ongoing Rural Development Department (RDD) schemes and encouraged the public to identify areas for constructing kuhls to enhance irrigation facilities. The Chief Agriculture Officer also offered detailed insights into the agricultural schemes being implemented in the district.
Additionally, the Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Department highlighted ongoing schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission and progress achieved so far besides assuring the public of all possible assistance. The DC also distributed Baby Care Kits, Agriculture equipments, Prosthetic aids (Wheelchairs and Sticks) among the beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, a number of local issues were also raised, discussed and addressed during the session. The grievances presented by the public covered a range of sectors, including the Jal Shakti Department, Roads & Buildings (R&B), Education, Power Development Department (PDD), Agriculture and others. Majority of the grievances were redressed in the camp in consultation with concerned Officers. Necessary directions were given to the concerned officers for immediate resolution of the remaining grievances.
SDM Paddar Amit Kumar apprised the DC about the status of various ongoing projects and schemes in the Block Paddar. Concerned Tehsildar and BDO besides the district officers attended the Camp. Earlier, the DC visited the road accident site in the Massu area in which 4 persons lost their lives while 2 persons were missing till last reports. He assessed the situation and assured the necessary assistance to the victim's families. A Two minute silence was also observed for the departed souls.
