SRINAGAR: Gandhi Memorial College, Srinagar, Tuesday organized a seminar on ‘Road Safety Awareness and Drug Abuse Prevention: A Youth Initiative.’ The event drew widespread participation from the student body and faculty members, addressing two pressing concerns affecting today's youth. The Principal, Prof. (Dr) Aijaz Ahmad Hakak, delivered a welcome address highlighting the importance of such awareness programmes in educational institutions.
The keynote speaker, Junaid Wali, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Maharaj Gunj, Srinagar, presented a comprehensive overview of road safety regulations and anti-drug initiatives in the Kashmir Valley. In his address, he emphasized the critical need for following traffic rules and discussed various preventive measures to combat the growing menace of drug abuse among youth. His talk included practical examples and recent case studies from the region, which particularly resonated with the audience.
The event concluded with Prof. Mohammad Zubair Ud Din acknowledging the contributions of all participants and emphasized the college's commitment to organizing such awareness programs regularly.
