JAMMU: An Induction Programme for the students of 1st Semester was organized in the Department of Economics today wherein Prof. Sunita Devi, Head of the Department emphasized the importance of the M.A Economics program and the diverse career opportunities it offers. She provided an overview of the course structure, SWAYAM programs, and various co-curricular activities, including academic and research programs, all aimed at enhancing the students' skills.
Prof. Sunita also discussed the relevance of the different programs being conducted in the department and their linkages with the New Education Policy and economic development in the regional and national context, including global perspective.
The faculty members also informed the students about the importance of obtaining skill certifications, gaining vocational knowledge, developing communication and leadership abilities, and engaging in co-curricular activities. They encouraged participation in various literary and cultural clubs at Jammu University, involvement in National Service Scheme activities, and taking part in Green Campus initiatives, along with other academic pursuits that contribute to career development.
The faculty members of the department namely Prof. Dipankar Sengupta, Prof. Falendra Kumar, Prof. Prakash C. Anthal, Prof. Manoj Bhatt , and Dr.Tsering Yangzom including other faculty members were present during the programe. Dr.Shallu Sehgal welcomed the faculty members and students, while Dr. Apoorva Jamwal conducted the proceeding and Dr.Tsering yangzom presented the vote of thanks.
