- *Says Rooftop Solar Yojana Will Reduce Monthly Bills to Zero
- *Calls for Better Implementation Schemes in Jammu and Kashmir
TRUKPORA, BANDIPORA: Addressing a rally at Turkpora in Bandipora district of Kashmir, Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Er. Gulam Ali Khatana, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pro-people approaches while calling attention to implementation challenges on the ground.
Khatana emphasized the potential impact of the Rooftop Solar Yojana (PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana), stating, “This scheme will be a game changer, as people paying huge bills for electricity every month will see their monthly power bills reduce to zero after installation of solar panels.” However, the MP expressed concern that residents of Turkpora have yet to benefit from many welfare initiatives.
He highlighted several issues, “Local landless (Hanji) fishermen reported difficulties in availing benefits, still awaiting the promised 5 Marlas of land. Claims of vested interests in the BDO office Bandipora deleting names of approximately 20 eligible beneficiaries from housing assistance lists. Citizens struggling to obtain new ration cards and character certificates, particularly for youth previously involved in stone-pelting incidents.”
Khatana called for a district-level policy to accommodate those wishing to join the mainstream, emphasizing the positive transformations in Kashmir since 2014. “People who were once misguided are now proudly holding the national flag and contributing to making our country a world leader,” he remarked.
The BJP leader apprised authorities to take swift action against non-performing public servants impeding the progress of government initiatives. He stressed the importance of distinguishing between allies and adversaries in the evolving landscape of Kashmir. The rally was attended by several senior party leaders, including Roshan Choudhary, Nasir Ahmed Lone, Arshad, Ab Rehman Thikri, Ms Nahid Ji, and retired SSP Syed Shabir Gelani.
MP’s mass outreach programme underscores the BJP’s commitment to ensuring central government schemes reach every eligible citizen in Jammu and Kashmir, promoting inclusive growth and national integration.
