SRINAGAR: In commemoration of the momentous milestone of 10 years of BetiBachaoBetiPadhao (BBBP) initiative, Department of Social Welfare SANKALP- Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW) Mission Shakti Srinagar today organized on spot celebrations of birth of new born girl child to mark the ‘National Girl Child Week-2025’.
Marking a decade of relentless efforts to protect, educate and empower the girl child in India this milestone aligns with India's vision of a Viksit Bharat 2047 and the global shift from Women’s Development to Women-Led Development. The movement has focused on overcoming gender barriers and biases, paving the way to ensure that the girl child has access to education and opportunities to achieve her dreams.
Taking this initiative, the event was started by cutting a cake by the new born girl child’s mothers and later Baby Kits were distributed among the new born Baby Girl Children. This event was organized to raise awareness among families and locals regarding laying a strong foundation for valuing and protecting every girl child and preventing gender-biased sex-selective elimination and promote the survival, protection and education of the girl child.
