JAMMU: Pawan Sharma, senior leader and District Doda Prabhari for the Bharatiya Janata Party in Jammu and Kashmir, denounced the Omar Abdullah-led government's purported bias against Hindi, Sanskrit, and Dogri languages in its recently referred lecturer job postions to the competent authority.

Addressing media representatives and party workers, Sharma expressed his deep concern over the marginalization of these languages, which he referred to as integral to the cultural and linguistic heritage of Jammu and Kashmir. He accused the Omar Abdullah government of showing a “step-motherly treatment” to regional and classical languages in a recent advertisement of lectures and failing to prioritize their inclusion in the educational landscape.

Key Concerns Raised by Pawan Sharma:

1. Exclusion of Key Languages:

Sharma highlighted that the advertised lecturer positions showed a disproportionate concentration on specific languages, while neglecting Hindi, Sanskrit, and Dogri, which represent the linguistic identity of Jammu and the wider region.

2. Cultural Neglect:

He censured the Omar Abdullah government for its evident apathy towards fostering regional and classical languages, crucial to conserving Jammu and Kashmir's unique and diverse cultural heritage.

3. Equity in Opportunities:

Sharma raised concerns regarding the inadequate representation of educators specializing in these languages, emphasizing the necessity to foster opportunities for their professional advancement within the education sector.

"The intentional neglect of Hindi, Sanskrit, and Dogri undermines Jammu and Kashmir's cultural fabric, emphasizing the need for more inclusive representation and profound respect for the linguistic traditions of the region's people".

He exhorted the present administration to revisit and rectify the decision of referring lecturer vacancies, emphasizing the need for affirmative actions to promote neglected languages and their scholars.

BJP's Commitment to Linguistic Diversity:

Sharma reiterated the BJP's position, emphasizing the party's dedication to safeguarding and promoting all languages integral to Jammu and Kashmir's cultural identity. He pledged that the BJP would champion equal opportunities and rightful recognition for Hindi, Sanskrit, and Dogri within the educational framework
