SRINAGAR: Continuing its unwavering efforts to bridge the gap between police & public, Police in Handwara & Kulgam facilitated Police Community Partnership Group meetings (PCPG).
The meeting in Handwara was organised at Police Post Zachaldara which was chaired by Incharge Police Post Zachaldara under the directions of SSP Handwara Shri Ifroz Ahmad-JKPS & was attended by all the Numberdars, Chowkidars and respectable citizens.
On the occasion, the participants highlighted various issues of public importance and they were assured by the chairing officer that their genuine grievances pertaining to police will be resolved on priority and that of civil administration will be taken up with the concerned departments for their early redressal. The participants were stressed to co-operate with Police in maintaining law and order in the area and in identifying anti-national and anti-social elements who always try to disrupt the peaceful environment. The participants in the meeting assured their full co-operation to Police in tackling social evils and also appreciated the efforts of Police in facilitating community interaction meets where participants express their opinions freely.
In Kulgam, PCPG meetings were facilitated at Police Station Kund, Police Station DH Pora and Police Post Navyug Tunnel. These meetings were chaired by respective jurisdictional officers and were attended by the respectable citizens of Kraloo, Kanchloo, Nigeenpora, DH Pora, Ujroo and other adjacent areas.
During the meetings various issues of public importance including eradication of drug abuse, food adulteration, traffic jams, shortage of drinking water, electricity problem were discussed. The chairing officers present at the meetings gave a patient hearing to their issues and assured them that their issues which are pertaining to other departments will be taken up immediately with the concerned officers for appropriate action besides issues related to Police would be resolved on priority.
Speaking on the occasion, chairing officers said that such meetings are conducted to solicit the suggestions and support of people for better Policing. Officers also thanked the people for participating in the meeting and for providing valuable suggestions. The participants were stressed to co-operate with Police in maintaining law and order in the areas and in identifying anti-national and anti-social elements who try to disrupt the peaceful environment.
