JAMMU: In line with the Union Government's ongoing efforts to make Jammu & Kashmir terror-free, Union Home Minister Amit Shah's strong commitment has significantly boosted the morale of our security forces, said Dr Abhijeet Jasrotia.
While the Hon'ble Home Minister was in Delhi formulating a roadmap to eradicate terrorism from the region, the security forces on the ground achieved a major victory by neutralizing five terrorists in Kulgam. This is a remarkable success and underscores the dedication of our forces in securing peace in Jammu & Kashmir.
Dr Jasrotia added that the winter season provides a crucial advantage as snowfall shuts down most infiltration routes for the next three months. During this period, efforts will be concentrated on neutralizing the remaining terrorist elements, with the use of advanced technology and border management strategies. These measures are nearing completion, ensuring that infiltration attempts will be thwarted effectively.
In addition, significant actions have been taken against individuals who promote terrorism and violence in the region. A supplementary charge sheet has recently been filed against Mian Abdul Qayoom, who is accused of being involved in the murder of Advocate Babar Qadri and other terrorist activities. Qayoom is also alleged to have played a key role in the targeted killings of minorities, including prominent figures such as Judge Neelkanth Ganjoo and Tikalal Taploo. The legal actions against Qayoom are a clear message that those aiding terrorism will be held accountable.
Another critical issue that needs immediate attention is the illegal presence of Rohingya immigrants in Jammu. The entry of these immigrants from neighboring countries raises serious concerns regarding security, particularly in sensitive areas like Jammu. The government must hold accountable those responsible for facilitating the settlement of these illegal immigrants. Their presence in Jammu, especially during times of unrest, has been a matter of concern for the local population.
The Hon'ble Home Minister has repeatedly urged states to remain vigilant and prevent the issuance of identification documents to illegal immigrants. However, some states continue to ignore this call, driven by vote bank politics. In Jammu, certain political leaders have been advocating for the stay of these immigrants under the guise of humanitarian efforts. However, this approach is undermining the security and demographic stability of the region.
Dr. Abhijeet Jasrotia, Spokesperson for BJP, has suggested that leaders who advocate for the Rohingyas' stay should take responsibility for them personally. The BJP remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of Jammu & Kashmir through robust security measures, judicial accountability for those involved in terrorism, and tackling illegal immigration. The Union Government’s continued efforts will pave the way for a peaceful, prosperous, and secure Jammu & Kashmir.
