SRINAGAR: Commissioner SMC, Dr. Owais Ahmed launched the “Ek Ped Shaheedon Ke Naam” campaign at S.K Park today. This campaign, aimed at honoring martyrs by planting trees at key public locations and memorials, marks the beginning of a significant movement to blend respect for our heroes with environmental conservation.
The launch event featured a range of activities designed to engage the community and underscore the campaign’s purpose. Highlights included a tree-planting ceremony, where attendees actively participated in planting trees, symbolizing their tribute to the martyrs.
Dr. Owais, in his address, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “The ‘Ek Ped Shaheedon Ke Naam’ campaign is more than just a tribute; it is a commitment to honor our martyrs by contributing to a greener, more sustainable future. We are calling on every individual and community to join this movement and help us create a lasting legacy of remembrance and environmental stewardship.”
The launch event was attended by senior SMC officials and officials from the forest department, all of whom expressed their support for the campaign. The campaign encourages widespread participation from citizens, families, and organizations to help plant trees and expand the movement throughout the Srinagar.
