• Community-Led Initiative Focuses on Sustainable Environmental Restoration: NLCO Chairman

SRINAGAR: The Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO), in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Lake Conservation Management Authority (LC&MA), has embarked on the rejuvenation of the third spring at Khushalsar under the banner of its flagship community-driven eco-initiative, Mission Ehsaas. This project aims to revitalize the spring, which is critical to the local ecosystem, through a comprehensive community-based approach.

The event was honored by the presence of Dr. Bashir Bhat, Vice-Chairman of LC&MA, who served as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Rauf Trumboo, President of TAAK. Their active participation, alongside local residents, students, and community leaders, underscored the collective effort needed to ensure the success of environmental conservation initiatives.

NLCO Chairman Manzoor Wangnoo expressed heartfelt thanks to VC LC&MA Dr. Bashir Bhat, TAAK President Mr. Rauf Trumboo, NLCO chief coordinator Dr. Touseef Bhat, students and all stakeholders for their unwavering support. Wangnoo said that "This initiative is more than just restoring a spring; it's about empowering our community to take ownership of their environment. Our collective efforts today will ensure that Khushalsar thrives for future generations."

"While we are making significant progress with the spring's rejuvenation, the long-term success of our efforts depends on government action to connect local sewage systems to STPs. Without this crucial infrastructure, our work remains at risk."

VC LC&MA Dr. Bashir Bhat said that "The rejuvenation of Khushalsar's springs is a testament to what can be achieved when the government, community, and stakeholders come together for a common cause. We are committed to supporting these efforts with all necessary resources."
"Environmental conservation is a shared responsibility. Today's event reflects our collective dedication to preserving the natural heritage of Kashmir, ensuring that our ecosystems remain vibrant and healthy."

TAAK President Mr. Rauf Trumboo said that "The involvement of students in today's activities is particularly inspiring. They represent the future of our conservation efforts, and their participation shows a growing awareness and commitment among the younger generation." "Collaborative efforts like these are vital for the sustainability of our natural resources. Khushalsar is not just a water source; it's a lifeline for our community, and we must protect it with all our might."

NLCO Chief Coordinator Dr. Touseef Bhat said that "Our mission to rejuvenate Khushalsar's springs is driven by a deep commitment to ecological balance and sustainability. The active participation of the community, especially the youth and students gives us hope that these efforts will lead to lasting change and a healthier environment for all."

Students, who are seen as the future advocates for environmental protection, played a crucial role in the day’s activities. Their involvement signifies the growing commitment of the younger generation to safeguarding natural resources, highlighting the importance of educational engagement in ecological preservation.
