JAMMU: In a vibrant celebration of knowledge and mentorship, schools across the Jammu Division celebrated Teachers' Day, honoring the relentless efforts and dedication of educators who shape the futures of countless students, thus encouraging the importance of educational support and recognizing teachers as the backbone of the educational system.

The day was filled with various activities including cultural programs, debates, and art exhibitions showcasing students' appreciation for their teachers. Special assemblies were held in schools where students expressed their gratitude through performances, poems, and heartfelt speeches. In many schools the senior most class took on the role of teachers and conducted the activities throughout the day.

The celebrations also saw a mix of, games and interactive sessions in schools, showcasing the importance of teachers in students' lives. Parents and members of civil society also joined in to show their support and gratitude towards teachers.

Ashok Sharma, Director School Education Jammu, extended his heartfelt wishes to teachers throughout the division. He said that teachers play an unparalleled role in shaping the minds and futures of our generations. Their commitment to fostering an environment of learning and curiosity is commendable. On this Teachers’ Day, let us celebrate their invaluable contribution and inspire a collective effort to ensure every child receives quality education, he added.

The celebration is not only a recognition of the teachers' hard work but also serves to motivate and inspire students to value education and the important role their teachers play in their lives. This day is a reminder of the crucial role teachers have in guiding the younger generation toward a better future, he further said.

  • Educational Institutions buzz with activities amid Teachers’ Day celebration

JAMMU: To commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Teachers’ Day was celebrated across all Educational Institutions across Jammu Division with traditional fervor and gaiety.

Principal of Higher Secondary School, Jindrah, Kasturi Lal Verma along with staff and students prayed and offered flowers to the portrait of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.A colourful cultural program was also organized   to show a mark of respect/honour for their teachers.

Government Degree College Vijaypur celebrated Teachers’ Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Principal and teachers of the college. The aim of the event was to honor all the teachers of the college including the Principal for their contribution in molding the lives of the students for a better future. The day was celebrated by organising a series of cultural programmes.  

  • Government Degree College for Women, Anantnag Celebrates Teachers' Day

ANANTNAG:  To honour and pay glowing tributes to teachers, the Cultural Activities Committee, in collaboration with the Debate & Seminar Committee of Government Degree College for Women, Anantnag, organized a day-long event to celebrate Teachers’ Day. The program was marked by enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty.

 Speaking on the occasion, the principal, Prof. (Dr.) Masood Ahmad Malik, congratulated the faculty for their invaluable contribution in shaping young minds. He acknowledged the significant role of teachers and emphasized how their responsibilities grow as they are elevated to the highest society. 

On the occasion, students presented variety of performances, showcasing their gratitude for the guidance and mentorship they have received. 

Speaking on behalf of the faculty, Secretary of the Staff Council, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Malik, commended the students for their efforts in conveying respect and admiration for their teachers. He also expressed his appreciation to Prof. (Dr.) Masood Ahmad Malik and the entire faculty for making the event memorable.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Syed Rahmat Shah, Head of the Zoology Department, while  Fatima Jeelani skillfully conducted the proceedings of the programme.

  • DEO Flags off Voter Awareness Rally on Teachers Day

Pays Tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan

POONCH: On the occasion of Teachers' Day, educators in Poonch district celebrated the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan with a unique voter awareness Rally.

The initiative, aimed at encouraging voter participation in the upcoming Assembly elections, was a befitting tribute to the former President, philosopher, and educator, who was born on this day in 1888.

The rally organised under SVEEP was formally flagged off by District Election Officer (DEO) Vikas Kundal in presence of Chief Education Officer Lal Hussain, from Girls Higher Secondary School Poonch. Hundreds of teachers participated, carrying banners emblazoned with slogans that emphasized the vital role of voting in strengthening democracy. The march, which passed through the main roads and streets of Poonch, concluded at the District Institute of Education and Trainings (DIET) Poonch.

Speaking at the event, DEO Vikas Kundal said, "Teachers are one of the most important components of our society, and on this day, when we honour teachers across the nation, it is inspiring to see them stepping out for democracy. Today, teachers have led the way, and now it is the responsibility of all sections of society to follow. Everyone should come out and vote in the upcoming Assembly elections to strengthen our democratic fabric."

Dr Radhakrishnan, renowned for his belief in education as the foundation of a strong democracy, is honoured annually on September 5. This year, teachers across the Poonch district extended their role beyond the classroom, using the occasion to mobilize citizens and underscore the importance of casting their vote.

The rally underscored the broader role of educators in shaping not only the minds of future generations but also in nurturing an informed and active electorate. Teachers, often seen as the pillars of society, took up the mantle of civic duty, reminding the public that voting is both a right and a responsibility. Their efforts highlighted the idea that a vibrant democracy requires the active participation of every citizen, a principle advocated by Dr. Radhakrishnan throughout his life.

The rally was attended by Deputy District Election Officer Poonch, Saleem Ahmed, ZEPO Poonch Vijay Kumar, and Officials from District election authorities.
