JAMMU: The management of Refugee Message, one of the leading English dailies in Jammu and Kashmir, today lodged a formal complaint with the Cyber Cell of J&K Police and Police Station Bakshi Nagar, seeking stern action against the miscreants indulged in altering digital versions of the newspaper with a malafide intention to create communal discord in the society.
The Editor and owner of the newspaper, Rajiv Chuni, who is also the chairman of SOS Internationalâthe frontline registered Organisation of displaced Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) peopleâhave also cautioned the general public and the esteemed readers of the newspaper to remain vigilant of the nefarious designs of these anti-social elements.
He further requested the police department to immediately identify the culprits responsible for the criminal act and ensure they are booked under stringent laws to deter such activities in future.
In the complaint, Mr Chuni informed the police that some unidentified individuals have begun maliciously altering digital versions of the newspaper since July 10, replacing original content with nefarious and objectionable material aimed at tarnishing the esteemed reputation of the publication. âAs a result of these actions, I have been receiving threatening phone calls. I have urged those contacting me to formally report their concerns to the appropriate authorities,â he said in the complaint.
Mr Chuni said the newspaper serves a wide readership and currently represents the voice of refugees within and outside the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. âGiven the seriousness of this situation, I kindly request your prompt attention to this matter. I urge you to conduct a thorough investigation to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for these defamatory acts. Restoring communal harmony is imperative, as these miscreants are spreading falsehoods and damaging the credibility of our esteemed newspaper,â he said.
