In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

JAMMU: The BJP-led government at the centre under Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has been deeply concerned for the welfare and socio-economic upliftment of different sections of the society in Jammu and Kashmir and during the last over ten years it has taken many decisions for the benefit of the deprived and marginalised sections.

BJP SC Morcha National General Secretary, Sanjay Nirmal, said this while discussing various initiatives of Modi government which has wiped tears and brought smiles on the faces of Valmiki Samaj, SCs, STs and other sections, who had no place in the programmes and policies of the successive governments of the Congress and NC at the centre and in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.

He was discussing wide range of issues related to the reserved category communities with Balbir Ram Rattan, J&K BJP Spokesperson, Santokh Singh Gumtala, SC Morcha National Secretary and J&K Prabhari for SC Morcha, Vijay Anand Gill, SC Morcha Vice President and Adarsh Jathiar, SC Morcha General Secretary.

Quoting few examples, Sanjay Nirmal said that under the Modi government the Valmiki Samaj in Jammu and Kashmir has been included in the SC category like other parts of the country. Similarly, the West Pakistan refugees have gained full citizenship rights and more than 70 per cent among them belong to the SC community. It has ended decades of oppressive treatment to them.

Sanjay Nirmal further said that the Bharatiya Janata party, in its election manifesto for the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, has promised to ensure reservation in promotions for SCs and STs within government service. It has also promised to create a transfer policy for all the employees, specifically for SCs and others working in Kashmir Valley, which is reflective of the commitment of the party and the Modi government to meet the aspirations of the Scheduled Castes in Jammu and Kashmir.

Expressing confidence of winning all the seven reserved assembly seats in the UT, the SC Morcha National General Secretary, said that every activist of the morcha should devote more time to reach out at the door steps of the members of different reserved categories and mobilise their support for BJP by educating them about numerous welfare schemes of the Modi government, which has brought changes in their lives.
