JAMMU: In a fervent address during his door-to-door campaign in Bajalata, Rajesh Gupta, the BahujanSamaj Party (BSP) candidate for Jammu East, launched a blistering critique against both the BharatiyaJanata Party (BJP) and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha's administration. Gupta did not hold back, accusing the BJP and the LG-led administration of causing extensive damage and neglect to Jammu.
Addressing local gatherings, Gupta highlighted the ongoing discrimination faced by the people of Jammu, asserting that the region has been consistently shortchanged by successive central governments, whether under Congress or BJP.
He pointed out that Jammu has often had to fight hard to receive even basic amenities and developments, such as the establishment of AIIMS, the Central University, and the recognition of Maharaja Hari Singh's birthday as a public holiday.
Gupta criticized the current administration for the severe shortage of essential services in remote areas, including inadequate electricity supply—even in metered zones—and infrequent water delivery, which occurs only twice a month.
He claimed that the BJP has fostered a climate of corruption and encroachment, resulting in a significant decline in public services and infrastructure over the past decade. According to Gupta, government jobs have been reserved for those with connections to the BJP, further exacerbating the sense of disenfranchisement among ordinary citizens.
He also highlighted a range of unresolved issues affecting the general populace, asserting that the government has failed to address these critical concerns effectively. Gupta urged voters to carefully consider the future of themselves and their children when heading to the polls, emphasizing the need for a change in leadership to address Jammu's ongoing challenges.
In summary, Gupta's remarks reflect a deep-seated frustration with the current political leadership and an urgent call for a shift towards more accountable and responsive governance in Jammu.
