JAMMU: J&K BJP leaders interacted with Panchs, Sarpanchs and Village Defence Guards (VDGs) and taking up issues concerning rural development, grassroots governance and security Udhampur-Doda-Ramban.
A meeting was held at the BJP office, Ramban, addressed by BJP Vice President and District Prabhari Rajeev Charak and All Cells Incharge Ved Sharma, in the presence of former District President Rakesh Thakur, VDG Convenor Basant Raj Thakur and District General Secretary Gurdeep Singh Chib.
Rajeev Charak, while highlighting the objectives of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, said that the campaign reflects BJP’s commitment to taking the spirit of service to every section of society. He said the programmes have been designed to strengthen the party’s grassroots connect and ensure that the developmental vision and achievements of the Narendra Modi government reach people in every village.
Charak elaborated on the “Aashirwad Ka Diya” programme to be observed on September 17 on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. He also listened to the issues raised by the Village Defence Guards and assured them that their genuine concerns would be taken up for appropriate redressal.
Ved Sharma said that the prolonged delay in Panchayat elections has adversely affected rural governance and left people struggling for the resolution of basic local issues. He said the absence of elected Panchayati Raj institutions has weakened the mechanism through which villagers raise and resolve their day-to-day concerns.
Sharma stressed that the NC government has remained negligent towards Ramban and said BJP would continue to stand with the people and raise their genuine concerns at every appropriate forum. He welcomed the participation of various BJP cell teams and urged them to strengthen coordination with the public and take BJP’s programmes to the grassroots.
Rakesh Thakur also addressed the gathering. Basant Raj Thakur welcomed the VDG members and appreciated their contribution, while Advocate Khajur Singh, Navad Bali and Kirpal Singh were also present.
