RAJOURI: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma and Transport Commissioner J&K Vishesh Paul Mahajan, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Rajouri intensified its enforcement drive to ensure strict compliance with traffic rules and the Motor Vehicles Act.

The drive was conducted in Kotranka and adjoining areas under Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Rajouri Ashiq Rafiq Malik. During the drive, the MVD team checked more than 85 vehicles. Of these, 17 were e-challaned for violations under the Motor Vehicles Act, generating an expected penalty of ₹52,600.

A further 8 vehicles were seized for serious violations, and recommendations to suspend 3 driving licences were forwarded to the competent authority. The team comprised Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) Lakhvinder Singh and other officials of the Motor Vehicles Department, Rajouri.

The MVD Rajouri said such enforcement drives will continue across the district to promote road safety and ensure compliance with traffic rules.
