In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

JAMMU: A delegation of Citizens’ Cooperative Bank Ltd., led by Managing Director Ravi Kant and Director on the Board Charanjeet Singh Raina, called on J&K BJP President and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Sat Sharma, and General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul, and submitted a detailed memorandum seeking infusion of rupees 40 crore as share capital from the J&K Government to strengthen the Bank’s financial position.

The meeting took place in a programme organized by the Cooperative Cell of the Bharatiya Janata Party at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. J&K BJP General Secretary Sanjita Dogra, All Cell Incharge Ved Sharma, Cooperative Cell Convenor Ankush Gupta, senior leader H.S. Pammi, and other party functionaries were also present on the occasion.

During the interaction, representatives of various cooperative institutions from across the Jammu region also participated and highlighted the operational and financial challenges faced by their respective organizations. Several constructive suggestions were put forward to improve the functioning and sustainability of cooperative institutions in the region.

Speaking on the occasion, MD Ravi Kant stated that Citizens’ Cooperative Bank is the oldest and largest urban cooperative bank in Jammu, with a membership base exceeding 45,000. He presented a comprehensive overview of the Bank’s balance sheet, net worth, and current financial standing. Emphasizing the need for immediate support, he said that infusion of share capital by the Government is crucial for strengthening the Bank’s financial health, improving its capital adequacy, and reviving its asset portfolio.

After giving a patient hearing to the delegation and other stakeholders, Sat Sharma assured the representatives that he would take up the matter with the Chief Minister of J&K, and the concerned departments, for appropriate consideration. He added that the PM Modi led Union Government, under the direct guidance and close monitoring of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, is giving top priority to strengthening the cooperative sector across the nation, including Jammu & Kashmir, and is committed to revitalizing cooperatives as a strong pillar of grassroots economic empowerment and regional development.
