BARAMULLA: As part of its sustained efforts to curb drug abuse and promote a drug-free society, J&K Police in Baramulla organised a two-day special bhang destruction drive in Pattan in collaboration with Civil Society Pattan and Kashir Foundation Pattan.
The drive witnessed active participation from local residents, school students and members of civil society, reflecting strong community support towards the fight against drug abuse. During the operation, illicitly cultivated bhang plants were identified and destroyed at various locations in the area. The initiative was aimed not only at eliminating sources of intoxicating substances but also at creating greater awareness among the public, particularly youth and students, about the harmful effects of drugs and the serious social and health consequences associated with substance abuse.
Police appreciated the active cooperation of the local community and civil society organisations, stressing that collective participation is essential to effectively combat the drug menace and safeguard the future of the younger generation. Police reiterated its commitment to intensifying anti-drug measures across the district and strengthening Police-Public cooperation to build a safer, healthier and drug-free society.
