JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu inaugurated 16th batch of the Nurturing Future Leadership Program under the aegis of the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training initiative, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. Prof. Nitin Upadhyay, Dean Academics presided over the inaugural ceremony. The inaugural ceremony was also graced by Program Directors Dr. Shivani Sachdev and Dr. V. Raj Kumar, IIM Jammu. The inaugural ceremony commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and collective wisdom.The training program consisted of 16 participants.
Prof. Sanjeev Pathak, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu, described the programme as a bidirectional learning platform and highlighted that IIM Jammu is conducting the maximum number of batches under the initiative, reflecting its strong commitment to faculty development and leadership enhancement. He emphasized that the mandate is clear to contribute meaningfully to individual and institutional growth. While participants are experts in their domains, he noted that the programme offers an opportunity to re-experience the learner’s role, strengthen critical reflection, and benefit from cross-learning and multidisciplinary engagement.
He further highlighted the remarkable growth of IIM Jammu from an initial cohort of 47 students to over 1200+ students, along with its expanding collaborations with the Government of Jammu & Kashmir, Govt of India, PSUs and other organizations, and its recent international engagement with National International Institutes of repute. He also mentioned the launch of the Dual Degree MBA in AI and Business Analytics by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Government of India, on 12th February 2026 at the Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, as a significant milestone in the Institute’s academic advancement.He encouraged participants to view the programme as the beginning of a long-term academic association, fostering continued collaboration and peer learning beyond the five-day engagement.
Dr. V. Raj Kumar, Program Director, IIM Jammu delivered the welcome address and described the programme as a leadership-centric initiative aimed at strengthening critical thinking, expanding intellectual horizons, and nurturing reflective academic leadership. He emphasized that the programme follows a participant-driven approach, where deeper engagement leads to richer learning outcomes. Concluding his address, he remarked that knowledge is that which liberates and transforms.
Dr. Shivani Sachdev, Program Director, IIM Jammu, delivered the formal vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to the participants, faculty members, and organizing team for their contributions to the successful inauguration of Batch-16.
