JAMMU : In a formal press conference held at the Press Club, Jammu, officials of Nations Development Association (NDA) announced the organization of Bal Sansad, a child-centric civic awareness programme aimed at nurturing democratic values, leadership skills, and responsible citizenship among young learners.
Addressing the media, Sushil Singh Charak, Chief Functionary, NDA, stated that Bal Sansad has been conceptualized to introduce children to the basic principles of democracy, constitutional values, and civic responsibility in an age-appropriate and engaging manner. He informed that the programme will be held on 25th February 2026 at The Shri Ram Universal School, Jakh, in collaboration with MY Bharat, Government of India. The initiative is designed for children in the 5 to 7 years age group.
Ms. Shivani Vaid Sharma, Chief, Women Wing, NDA, stated that early exposure to participatory platforms plays a crucial role in building confidence, communication skills, and leadership qualities among children. She emphasized that Bal Sansad encourages constructive dialogue, teamwork, and active participation in a positive learning environment.
Speaking on the occasion, Tarun Uppal, Chairperson, Nirbhay Bharat Foundation, stated that initiatives such as Bal Sansad are instrumental in shaping socially aware and responsible future citizens. He appreciated the collaborative efforts of educational institutions and civil society organizations in strengthening democratic foundations.
The organizers further informed that all participating children will receive Participation Certificates from MY Bharat, Government of India, while outstanding performers will be honoured with awards for their performance and participation. The programme is powered by The Shri Ram Universal School, Jakh and supported by Nirbhay Bharat Foundation, Prayaas, and Bhumitr Foundation. Present on the occasion were Bhoomi Thapa, Anuttam Gupta, and Happy Sharma, along with representatives from print and electronic media.
