- Visits Karbala House; expresses condolences to bereaved family
JAMMU: Speaker Jammu Kashmir Legislative Assembly (JKLA) Abdul Rahim Rather, today expressed profound grief over the demise of former Minister and MLA Qamar Ali Akhoon.
The Speaker said that Akhoon was a widely respected leader and capable administrator who was committed to the well-being and welfare of the people of J&K in general and Kargil in particular.
Recalling his long association with the Qamar Ali Akhoon, Rather said that they both had a cordial relationship and strong bonding. He described him as a down to earth politician connected to the public at large. He was practical, humble, realistic, sensible, sincere and a visionary leader, he added.
The Speaker exhorted that Qamar Ali Akhoon was a consummate political organizer who made significant contributions towards development of Ladakh region and upliftment of poor and downtrodden.
He described his passing as a huge loss to public life, adding that the void created by his death will be difficult to fill. The Speaker visited Karbala House in Jammu, paying respects to the deceased and offering condolences to the family, praying for their strength and courage during this difficult time.
