POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Vikas Kundal today reviewed the achievements of the Fisheries department here at a meeting held in the conference hall of DC Office Complex. The meeting discussed fishery department schemes under the Holistic Agriculture Development Plan (HADP) and the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY).
At the outset, AD Fisheries Bharat Bushan presented an overview of scheme-wise progress, highlighting key initiatives such as the construction of low-cost houses for fishermen, the establishment of trout raceways, and the provision of three-wheeler autos to support fishermen’s livelihoods during lean periods. The discussion also included the issuance of fishing licenses.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need to enhance expenditure and increase the number of licenses issued to fishermen. The AD informed that the department's successful achievement in constructing low-cost houses and trout raceways in the district. Furthermore, Deputy Commissioner urged the AD Fisheries to be actively aware the public about the available schemes, ensuring that fishermen can fully benefit from the initiatives aimed at improving their livelihoods and nutrition.
