KISHTWAR: A delegation of ex- servicemen led by District Sainik Welfare Officer Doda/Kishtwar, Wing Commander Tirath Singh (Retd), along with senior Ex-Servicemen Captain Shiv Kumar and Captain Lachhman Dass, VRC met Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan today to discuss the issues and concerns of Ex-Servicemen (ESM) in the district.
During the meeting, the delegation raised the pressing demand for the establishment of the Zila Sainik Welfare Office and an Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) facility in Kishtwar. The proposed ECHS facility is aimed at providing comprehensive medical care, including cashless treatment in empanelled hospitals to Ex-Servicemen and their dependents.
The delegation urged for enhanced implementation of welfare measures for ESM and sought the Deputy Commissioner's support for the smooth execution of the latest welfare policies. The Deputy Commissioner assured the delegation of every possible help to address their concerns. He acknowledged the importance of the proposed Zilla Sainik Board and ECHS Complex and expressed a commitment to take necessary measures for the prompt kick start of construction work.
In addition to the discussion, the delegation handed over Flag Day material to the Deputy Commissioner and emphasized the significance of observing Armed Forces Flag Day, celebrated annually on December 7. The day holds great importance as it honors the sacrifices of armed forces personnel, raises awareness about their welfare, and generates funds for the well-being of Ex-Servicemen, war widows, and their dependents.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties expressing mutual dedication to enhancing the welfare of Ex-Servicemen and addressing their needs in the district.
