JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Executive Member Raman Suri today said that the recent Rajya Sabha election victory of BJP candidate Sat Sharma has completely dismantled the false narrative and failed alliance attempts of National Conference (NC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Congress, who had vowed to keep BJP out of the Rajya Sabha.

Despite their concerted efforts and claims, Sat Sharma polled 32 votes, not only ensuring his emphatic win but also exposing the deep fissures and contradictions within the opposition alliance. “The maze (Chakravyuh) laid by the opposition to isolate BJP has been broken by this historic victory,” Raman Suri said, adding that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have once again reaffirmed their faith in the ideology and leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

He said that the BJP workers and leaders in Kashmir erupted in celebrations, waving saffron flags and raising slogans outside the Assembly after the results were announced. The mood was festive as party cadres in Srinagar celebrated the triumph of BJP’s ideology in the Valley. When Sat Sharma returned to Jammu, he was received with massive sloganeering and cheers from hundreds of supporters who hailed him as the symbol of determination and service.

Raman Suri further said that Sat Sharma, who has been associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since his youth, has remained a dedicated and active BJP worker since 1997. Having served as BJP’s J&K State President from 2014 to 2018, and again since November 2024, Sharma’s political journey reflects his organizational strength and deep-rooted connection with people at the grassroots.

A chartered accountant by profession, Sat Sharma has also served as Cabinet Minister for Housing and Urban Development in the BJP-PDP coalition government. His extensive experience, commitment, and disciplined background in the RSS have helped him lead the party through crucial times and strengthen its ideological base in the Union Territory.

Raman Suri reminded that this victory marks the third time BJP has entered the Rajya Sabha from Jammu and Kashmir, the first being in 2015 when Shamsher Singh Manhas was elected. BJP has another nominated Rajya Sabha Member, Gulam Ali Khatana who is a vibrant voice of people of J&K UT. “Sat Sharma’s win is not just a political victory—it is a moral and ideological triumph over those who conspired to keep BJP out. This result has humiliated the so-called alliance and reaffirmed the BJP’s rising acceptance even in the Valley,” Suri added.

He congratulated Sat Sharma and party workers for their unwavering commitment and said that this victory will further energize BJP cadres to work with more zeal for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
