JAMMU: Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner (M), Dr. Arvind Karwani, today reviewed the status of various ongoing developmental works and civic facilities in the migrant camps. He reviewed civic facilities like drinking water supply, repair of hand pumps, sanitation, power supply, street lights, repair and renovation of residential quarters and internal roads etc.
The meeting was attended by senior engineers from the Public Works Department (R&B), Jal Shakti Department, Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), Deputy Commissioner Relief, Chief Accounts Officer, Assistant Commissioners Relief, Tehsildar Headquarter, Camp Commandants, Camp Incharge JEs, and representatives from various agencies providing water and sanitation facilities in the migrant camps.
During the meeting, the issues raised by the Kashmiri migrants Vis-à-vis basic civic amenities were thoroughly deliberated. Directions were issued to the concerned departments/agencies to resolve the genuine grievances at the earliest.
Besides, it was impressed upon the concerned officers to ensure the routine upkeep and operations of various facilities in the transit migrant camps, as per the duties assigned to the departments in terms of Government Order No. 381-JK(GAD) of 2021 dated 28-04-2021.
It was further emphasized that Executive Engineer PWD(R&B) Division-lll , Jammu, being the nodal officer for overall co-ordination of maintenance works in the transit camps, shall coordinate with all concerned line departments.
Further, it was decided that concerned departments shall depute their field functionaries to the weekly grievance redressal camps scheduled on every Wednesday (Mini Township Jagti), Thursday (Muthi & Buta Nagar), Friday(Nagrota) and Saturday(Purkhoo), in the migrant camps at Jammu.
Directions were issued to Deputy Commissioner Relief and Assistant Commissioners Relief to remain available in the migrant camps as per the already notified schedule and resolve the grievances on spot, in co-ordination with the representatives of the line departments.
Directions were also issued to the Camp Commandants to pro-actively redress the day to day grievances of the migrants and to carry out special sanitation drives in their respective areas.
