HANDWARA: In a major initiative aimed at strengthening professional policing and sharpening the investigation mechanism against narcotics crimes, Police in Handwara successfully concluded a comprehensive three-day Special Training-cum-Awareness Workshop for Investigating Officers at District Police Lines Handwara under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan.

The workshop witnessed active participation of officers and officials from Prosecution Wing and Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), reflecting a coordinated and mission-oriented approach towards combating the drug menace in society.

The programme was designed to enhance the professional competence of Investigating Officers dealing with cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Detailed sessions were conducted on scientific investigation techniques, legal procedures, evidence collection, documentation standards, procedural compliance, and court-related protocols to ensure effective prosecution and improved conviction rates in NDPS cases.

During the training sessions, officers were sensitized about the latest legal provisions and best investigative practices, with special emphasis on timely filing of charge sheets, preservation of evidence, inter-agency coordination, and dismantling of drug trafficking networks operating in the region.

The workshop also highlighted the importance of people-friendly policing while maintaining a tough and uncompromising stance against narcotics peddlers and traffickers. Officers were encouraged to adopt a professional, accountable, and legally sound approach during investigations to strengthen public trust and ensure justice delivery.

The enthusiastic participation of Investigating Officers and supervisory officials underscored the commitment of Handwara Police towards capacity building, institutional strengthening, and professional excellence in the fight against drugs.

J&K Police reaffirmed its unwavering resolve to eradicate the drug menace from society and appealed to the youth and general public to actively support the vision of a drug-free society under the banner of “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan.”
