JAMMU: Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Vidhu Shekhar today chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme in Jammu district for the quarter January to March 2026. The meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officer Jammu Dr. Harbaksh Singh; District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Anu Saloch; Block Medical Officers and other officers of the Health Department besides Sub Divisional Magistrates and others concerned.
The DTO gave a detailed presentation on key performance indicators including presumptive TB testing, TB case notifications, Nikshay Poshan Yojana status, Ni-Kshay Mitra community support, contact tracing, co-morbidity management and progress of the ongoing 100 Days Campaign Phase 2.0. It was informed that the district achieved 95 percent of its presumptive TB testing target, with 22,239 tests conducted during the quarter.
Under the Ni-Kshay Mitra initiative, 616 volunteers have been registered and 330 food baskets distributed to TB patients. All diagnosed MDR-TB patients were immediately initiated on the DR-TB regimen, achieving 100 percent treatment initiation. Under the 100 Days Campaign Phase 2.0, shivirs have been conducted across congregate settings including schools, old age home and District Jail Amphalla, with hand-held X-rays performed.
The ADC directed officials to scale up TB screening in high-density areas, expedite contact tracing for pulmonary patients and ensure saturation of Ni-Kshay Mitra coverage against each patient. He stressed intensifying IEC activities at grassroots level to strengthen public awareness and early case detection.
