SRINAGAR/PULWAMA: All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC), a registered organisation working for strengthening rural local bodies in J&K, organised an anti-drug rally in Pulwama on Tuesday in support of the Nasha Mukt campaign being initiated by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The rally was led by AJKPC President Anil Sharma along with senior office bearers of the organisation and former PRI members from Kashmir division.

The march started from the main bazar of Awantipora town of district Pulwama and passed through key areas of the town. Participants carried placards and raised slogans against drug abuse. Prominent locals and youth also joined the rally, reflecting the growing concern over the drug menace in the area.

Speaking on the occasion, AJKPC President said keeping youth busy in sports, skill development and self-employment is the real answer to the drug problem. He said once young people have something meaningful to do, they are less likely to fall into the trap of drugs.

He also urged Vice Chancellors of universities to encourage research scholars to take up research on the drug menace, to find out its root causes and suggest ways to come out of it.  Sharma stated that scientific, academic research can play a big role in helping Kashmir's society to understand and fight this problem. He called on all political parties in Kashmir to stand together on this issue. Sharma said the fight against drugs needs everyone and not just the administration.
