In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

KISHTWAR: The Principal Census Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma today kick-started a three-day training programme for Field Trainers in connection with the forthcoming Phase-II (Population Enumeration) of Census 2027. DSEO (ADCO) Suresh Sharma was also present on the occasion.

The training programme, being conducted from August 13 to 17, 2026, aims at equipping the Field Trainers with the requisite knowledge, skills and field-oriented approach to effectively train the Enumerators and Supervisors engaged in Population Enumeration.

Addressing the Field Trainers, the Principal Census Officer stressed that the Census is a time-bound and highly important national exercise and therefore, every activity must be completed in all respects within the prescribed timeline. He directed the Field Trainers to thoroughly understand the Census concepts, procedures, forms and digital processes so that these could be imparted to Enumerators and Supervisors in a simple, clear and practical manner.

The trainers were directed to prepare and guide the field functionaries in such a manner that they maintain daily benchmarks and steady progress, thereby ensuring that the workload does not accumulate towards the end of the enumeration period. “Lay special emphasis on the accuracy, completeness and consistency of data,” he stressed and added There should be zero scope for avoidable errors in the Census exercise. “Any doubt or ambiguity faced by Enumerators or Supervisors should be clarified promptly through the proper supervisory and technical channels,” he added.

The Field Trainers were also directed to ensure that Enumerators and Supervisors understand their respective responsibilities in a simple and effective manner and are adequately prepared before entering the field. Particular emphasis was laid on 100 per cent coverage, adherence to the prescribed schedule, proper use of the Census application/technology, verification of information and immediate resolution of field-level issues.

The Principal Census Officer reiterated that “accuracy once achieved at the field level is the strongest guarantee of a reliable Census” and called upon all Field Trainers to work with dedication, discipline and a strong sense of responsibility.

The Principal Census Officer expressed confidence that, with collective efforts and meticulous field-level preparation, Census 2027 in District Kishtwar would be conducted in a timely, accurate and error-free manner.
