RAJOURI: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress under the ongoing 100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan in the district.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized strengthening the role of Women Vigilance Committees, stressing the need for their enhanced awareness and capacity building. He directed the concerned officers to formulate a structured action plan to ensure effective community participation in curbing drug abuse.
Highlighting the importance of grassroots monitoring, the DC called for impact assessment at the Panchayat level to evaluate the effectiveness of the campaign and identify gaps for timely intervention. He also stressed the need to intensify social media campaigns to amplify awareness and reach a wider audience, especially the youth.
The DC further directed for organizing a series of awareness and outreach activities in collaboration with the Indian Army across 143 border villages, including those identified under the Vibrant Villages Programme, to ensure maximum penetration of anti-drug messaging in far-flung areas. Taking a strict stance, the DC instructed for stringent action against those indulged in drug abuse or related offenses.
To promote positive reinforcement, the DC stressed documenting and sharing success stories of rehabilitated individuals and encouraged their engagement in skill development programs to facilitate their reintegration into society.
