AWANTIPORA: Continuing its efforts against drug abuse under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Police in Awantipora organized multiple awareness programmes and anti-narcotics actions across different areas of the Police district.
An awareness programme was conducted at Government Higher Secondary School Lurgam by Police Station Tral, wherein students, faculty members, and members of civil society actively participated. During the programme, participants were sensitized about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the legal consequences associated with narcotics offences.
Similarly, an awareness programme was organised at International Islamic School Khrew by Police Station Khrew. The speakers highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in combating drug abuse and encouraged students to stay away from narcotics and spread awareness in society.
Police Post Reshipora conducted a drug awareness programme at Government Higher Secondary School Gulzarpora regarding the ill effects of substance abuse. Students and staff members participated enthusiastically in the programme.
Another drug awareness programme was conducted at Government Primary School Dharamgund by Police Post Aripal, where students were educated about the social, psychological, and legal impact of drug addiction.
Meanwhile, Police Post Toll Plaza conducted a narcotics-related search operation at K. Koot as part of the ongoing drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse. In another significant action, Police Station Awantipora, along with the Revenue and Agriculture Departments, destroyed illegally cultivated poppy straw at Barsoo, Awantipora as part of the intensified anti-narcotics campaign.
Police reiterated its commitment towards making society drug free and appealed to the public, especially youth, to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in eradicating the menace of drugs from society.
