GANDERBAL: Continuing its sustained efforts to eradicate the menace of drug abuse from society, Police in Ganderbal organised a series of awareness programmes, rallies and enforcement activities across the district under the ongoing Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan.
An anti-drug awareness programme was organised at Anglo Eastern Public School Diryadin, where students and staff were sensitised about the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of maintaining a healthy and drug-free lifestyle. Speakers during the programme highlighted the role of youth in building a responsible and aware society and urged students to act as ambassadors against drug abuse in their communities.
In another initiative, a joint drug awareness rally was organised by Police, Education and Health Departments from Government Higher Secondary School Kangan to SDM Office Kangan. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, officials and members of the public carrying placards and raising slogans promoting a drug-free society. The rally aimed to spread awareness regarding the devastating impact of narcotics and encourage collective public participation in combating the menace.
Meanwhile, Ganderbal Police also carried out searches at multiple locations as part of its continuous crackdown against drug peddling and related activities. The searches were conducted to deter anti-social elements and strengthen efforts to eradicate the drug menace from the district.
Police reiterates its commitment towards safeguarding the youth and ensure a drug-free society. The general public has been urged to cooperate with Police and share information related to drug peddling or substance abuse so that strict action can be taken against those involved in such illegal activities.
