ANANTNAG: Continuing its sustained drive against narcotics cultivation and drug abuse, J&K Police destroys illegally cultivated poppy crop in Anantnag. Acting on reliable information, a police party of Police Station Bijbehara conducted a raid at Bagander area of Bijbehara and found illegal cultivation of poppy plants on a piece of land belonging to one Mohammad Syed Shah son of Ali Mohammad Shah resident of Bagander, Bijbehara.
The illegally cultivated poppy crop was destroyed on the spot as per legal procedure in the presence of concerned officials. In this regard, FIR No. 124/2026 under Section 8/18 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been taken up. Police remains committed to eradicating the menace of drugs and appeals to the general public to share information related to narcotics cultivation, trafficking, or abuse so that timely legal action can be taken.
