BARAMULLA: Continuing its relentless drive against narcotics and substance abuse, J&K Police in Baramulla destroyed an illegally cultivated poppy crop at village Check Jamal Mir, Palhalan.
Acting on reliable information received by the concerned Beat Officer, it came to notice that one person namely Faroq Ahmad Malla S/o Habibullah Malla R/o Check Jamal Mir, Palhalan had illegally cultivated poppy crop on a patch of land in the area. Accordingly, a joint team comprising Police, Executive Magistrate concerned, and officials from the Agriculture and Excise Departments was deputed to the spot.
During the operation, the illegally cultivated poppy crop was destroyed on the spot in accordance with legal procedures. In this connection, Case FIR No. 101/2026 under Sections 8/18 of the NDPS Act has been registered and investigation has been taken up.
Police remains committed towards eradicating the drug menace from society and appeals to the general public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing any information related to narcotics or illegal cultivation in their areas.
