HANDWARA: In a sustained and determined push against the drug menace, J&K Police in Handwara has significantly intensified its operations under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, adopting a comprehensive strategy that blends strict enforcement with proactive public engagement.

As part of this multi-pronged initiative, extensive awareness programmes, rallies, hotspot checking’s were conducted across the district, various schools, sensitizing students about the dangers of substance abuse and inspiring them to adopt healthy, responsible lifestyles.  These sessions aimed at empowering youth to act as ambassadors of change within their communities.

Simultaneously, rigorous inspections of medical shops were carried out to ensure strict compliance with regulations governing the sale of prescription drugs. Shopkeepers were sensitized and directed to maintain proper records and adhere to legal protocols to prevent misuse.

On the enforcement front, police teams intensified checking at identified hotspots, coupled with strengthened naka operations and enhanced surveillance to deter and disrupt drug-related activities.

Reaffirming its commitment, Police has urged citizens to actively cooperate and share credible information, highlighting that public participation remains crucial in the fight against drugs.
