• Enforcement Ramped Up | K-9 Squad Assisted Checking | Medical Shops Inspected | Drug Store Sealed | Thana Diwas & Awareness Drives

PULWAMA: Continuing its focused campaign under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, J&K Police carried out a series of coordinated enforcement, inspection, and awareness activities across the district to curb drug abuse and trafficking.

In a major enforcement push, Police Station Rajpora conducted intensive searches targeting residences of suspected drug peddlers. A CASO was also launched in the Mohanviji area of Kakapora, where houses of suspected individuals and adjoining premises were thoroughly searched for NDPS-related contraband. Surveillance was further strengthened through intensified vehicle checking. A special naka at Kakapora was established with the deployment of K-9 squads, while additional checking was carried out at Batpora Naina to monitor suspicious movement.

On the regulatory front, medical shops were inspected in the jurisdictions of Police Post Newa and Mohanviji–Lelhar. Records and licences were verified, and one medical shop Medina Chemists and Druggists at Newa was sealed for violations including improper record maintenance and unauthorized handling of restricted drugs, in coordination with the Drug Controller.

Awareness initiatives were conducted at Sheik-ul-Alam Darul Uloom Drabgam and GMS Mohanviji Kakapora, sensitizing students and locals about the harmful effects of drug abuse. A Thana Diwas-cum-awareness programme was held at Police Station Litter, while a similar programme at Police Station Pulwama facilitated public interaction, grievance redressal, and community engagement, alongside reinforcing anti-drug awareness. Police reiterates its firm resolve to combat the drug menace and urges the public to actively cooperate by sharing any information related to drug-related activities.
