JAMMU: Balbir Ram Rattan, Spokesperson of the Jammu Kashmir BJP and former Vice Chairman, has said that the Khelo India vision has successfully transformed India’s sporting aspirations into remarkable global achievements, establishing the country as a strong and confident force in international sports.

Balbir Ram Rattan stated that India’s recent wave of sporting success in 2025 is the result of a sustained and well-structured sports movement that prioritizes talent identification, high-quality training, and long-term athlete development. He said initiatives like Khelo India have created a solid ecosystem where young talent is nurtured systematically and provided opportunities to excel at the global level.

Highlighting India’s growing stature in world sports, he pointed to landmark performances in major international tournaments in 2025, including the Women’s World Cricket Cup, ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, T20 World Cup, Squash World Cup, and the Kabaddi World Cup. He said these victories have not only brought immense pride to the nation but have also transformed global perceptions about India’s sporting depth, competitiveness, and professionalism.

Balbir Ram Rattan also underlined India’s dominance in indigenous and emerging sports, citing the impressive victories in both the Men’s and Women’s Kho Kho World Cups. He noted that these achievements clearly demonstrate how traditional Indian sports, when supported through structured platforms like Khelo India, can achieve global recognition. He further highlighted India’s strong showing at the Pickleball World Cup, reflecting the country’s adaptability and growing presence in new-age sports.

Emphasizing inclusivity in India’s sporting journey, Balbir Ram Rattan lauded the achievement of winning 20 medals at the Deaflympics, calling it a powerful example of equal opportunity and inclusive growth in sports. He also drew attention to the 48 medals secured in Youth Sports competitions, describing them as a clear indicator of a strong pipeline of young talent ready to represent India at the highest levels.

Praising the performance of Indian boxers, Balbir Ram Rattan said that clinching 20 medals at the World Boxing Finals symbolized grit, discipline, and the impact of world-class coaching. He credited the Khelo India initiative for strengthening sports infrastructure, promoting grassroots participation, and providing consistent support to athletes from both urban and rural backgrounds, which has boosted their confidence to compete fearlessly on global platforms.

He also acknowledged the inspirational role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting that the Prime Minister’s personal engagement with athletes through congratulatory messages, meetings with winning teams, and encouragement on social media has significantly boosted morale and motivated young Indians to dream big in sports.

Balbir Ram Rattan said that India’s sporting rise is not a short-term phenomenon but a sustained national movement driven by clear vision, strong leadership, and the unstoppable determination of its athletes.
