PULWAMA: Building on the momentum of the 100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Police in Pulwama has intensified awareness and outreach activities across the district, alongside strengthening enforcement measures against drug abuse and illegal pharmaceutical practices.

As part of the awareness campaign, anti-drug rallies were organised in collaboration with educational institutions across the district, witnessing active participation from students, teaching staff and police personnel. The rallies passed through various localities, spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraging collective action, especially among the youth.

An awareness programme was also conducted at Merry Land Educational Institute, Newa, where students, staff and police officers participated in interactive sessions and discussions on drug abuse and its consequences.

Further strengthening enforcement, a joint inspection was conducted by Police Team Pulwama along with Drug Controller Officer to ensure compliance with regulations governing the sale and distribution of medicines. During the inspection, two chemist shops were found violating provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and were sealed on the spot by the Drug Control Authority.

J&K Police reiterated that sustained awareness, community participation and strict enforcement remain key to eliminating the menace of drugs and reaffirmed its commitment to building a safer, healthier and drug-free society.
