JAMMU: Demonstrating a strong commitment to building a drug-free society, NCC cadets of 8 J&K Girls Battalion, Jammu, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS), organized a series of impactful awareness activities at GGM Science College under the NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) 100-Days Campaign. The initiative, conducted under the broader framework of NCORD, aimed to foster awareness, responsibility, and resilience among students against the growing threat of substance abuse.

The programme was carried out under the able leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, who highlighted the urgent need for collective action and awareness to combat drug addiction, particularly among youth. Stressing the importance of informed decision-making, he encouraged students to become ambassadors of change within society.

As part of the campaign, a Poster Making Competition centered on the theme “Say No to Drugs: Break the Chains of Addiction” was organized under the aegis of the Directorate of Colleges. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from NCC cadets and NSS volunteers, who creatively expressed the devastating effects of drug abuse through compelling visual messages.

The activities were conducted under the guidance of Dr. Shafia Saleem, Dr. Neha Sharma, Dr. Rahul Kait, and Dr. Devinder Sharma, whose mentorship played a key role in engaging students effectively. Participants showcased not only artistic talent but also a deep understanding of the social and health implications of substance abuse. Their work reflected a blend of awareness, creativity, and a strong sense of social responsibility.

Held within the college campus, the initiative aimed to sensitize students about the alarming rise of drug addiction and the need for preventive measures through awareness and education. The programme underscored the vital role educational institutions play in shaping responsible citizens and nurturing a drug-free environment.

The event concluded on a resolute note, with all participants taking a collective pledge to actively contribute to the vision of a NashaMukt Bharat. The pledge reaffirmed their dedication to discipline, awareness, and societal well-being, marking yet another step forward in the fight against drug abuse. Through initiatives like EmpowerHer, GGM Science College continues to empower young minds to rise above challenges and lead the way toward a healthier, addiction-free future.
