BUDGAM: Continuing its sustained efforts to eradicate the menace of drug abuse under the ongoing Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan, police in Budgam organized a series of awareness programmes and Village-Level Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meetings across the district.

As part of the initiative, multiple awareness events were conducted to sensitize the general public—particularly youth and students—about the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of adopting a drug-free lifestyle. These included pledge-taking ceremonies at Government Higher Secondary School Khag and awareness rallies/Pad Yatras at Boys Higher Secondary School Charar-i-Shareif.

In addition, Village-Level PCPG meetings were convened at several locations, including Noorani Colony Peerbagh Humhama, Shining Star Public School Mouchwa, Gund-Khalil Narbal, Panzan Chadoora, Kremshora Khansahib, Farashgund Soibugh, Watkhaloo Charar-i-Shareif, Wata Magam, Wachoo Hardupanzo, Pakherpora Hamchipora Khag, Hardumalpora Beerwah, and Ichikot Budgam.

During these interactions, participants were educated about the ill effects of drug abuse, relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, and the importance of community cooperation in identifying and preventing drug-related activities. Emphasis was also laid on strengthening police-public relations and encouraging citizens to actively contribute towards building a drug-free society. Police reiterates its commitment to intensifying awareness drives and community outreach programmes to achieve the goal of a Drug-Free Jammu & Kashmir.
