- Anti-drug awareness programme conducted in Sopore
PULWAMA: Continuing its sustained efforts under the ongoing 100 Days Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, Police in Pulwama carried out a series of focused enforcement and awareness activities across different areas of the district, further strengthening its fight against the drug menace through coordinated action and community participation. Besides, an anti-drug awareness programme was conducted in Sopore.
As part of the ongoing crackdown against narcotics-related activities, Police Station Rajpora conducted intensive house searches in the residences of suspected drug peddlers within its jurisdiction to maintain strict vigil and dismantle local drug networks.
Continuing the drive against illegal cultivation, a few poppy straw plants grown alongside vegetable crops by one Mohd Hussain Mir resident of Rajpora were identified and destroyed on the spot. Preventive legal action was also initiated in the matter. Meanwhile, wild bhang growing at Nikas was also destroyed with the active involvement and support of civil society members, reflecting growing public cooperation in the anti-drug campaign.
On the awareness front, Pulwama Police organised an anti-drug awareness programme at Government Middle School Gulshanaabad Rajpora, where students were sensitized about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of staying away from narcotics.
Further strengthening community outreach, a drug awareness programme under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was also conducted by Evergreen Computer Institute Wanpora, during which participants were educated about the social, legal, and psychological consequences of substance abuse and the need for building a drug-free society.
Meanwhile in Sopore, Police organised an anti-drug awareness programme at Watlab in collaboration with Chemists & Druggists Associations under 100 Day Nasha Mukt JK Abhiyaan to prevent misuse of psychotropic substances & strengthen community-level vigilance.
J&K Police reiterates its firm commitment to continue strict enforcement, preventive action, and sustained awareness initiatives under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan and urges the public to actively cooperate by sharing information related to drug trafficking, substance abuse, or illegal cultivation activities.
