POONCH: As part of the ongoing 100-Day Drug-Free Campaign, a sensitization programme was organized at Police Station Poonch to strengthen the collective fight against drug substance abuse. The initiative was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police Shafqat Bhat, Additional SP Operation (ASP) Ajay Sharma and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Parvaiz Ahmed Khan.

The programme witnessed active participation from the medical fraternity, with the District Hospital Poonch team playing a significant role. Medical Superintendent Dr. Shafiq Chouhan, along with the dedicated Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF) staff including Dr. Femida Banday and Saima Bhat contributed valuable insights during the session.

During the programme, SHOs and NDPS in-charges from across the district engaged in detailed discussions focusing on key strategies to curb drug abuse. The deliberations revolved around strengthening enforcement mechanisms, ensuring timely medical intervention for addicts and enhancing rehabilitation measures to reintegrate affected individuals into society.

A large number of police personnel and the general public also participated in the event, reflecting strong community involvement in the anti-drug initiative. Speakers emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts between law enforcement agencies, healthcare professionals and the public to effectively tackle the growing menace of drug abuse.
