KATRA: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) hosted Associate NCC Officers’ (ANO) Conclave jointlyorganised by 6 J&K NCC Battalion and SMVDU, bringing together more than 250 NCC officers andpersonnel from Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, Bhaderwah, Poonch and Rajouri regions.
The conclaveprovided a platform for Commanding Officers of NCC Battalions and Associate NCC Officers todeliberate upon issues concerning NCC activities and training and to discuss measures for furtherstrengthening and improving the functioning of the National Cadet Corps.The event commenced with a Guard of Honour presented by SMVDU NCC cadets to Maj GenAnupinder Bevli, VSM, ADG, Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh NCC Directorate.
The Guard of Honour wasled by SUO Kartik and SUO Dhruv, who commanded the cadets during the ceremonial proceedings. Brig. H. S. Burn, Group Commander, Jammu Group, NCC, delivered the welcome address andextended a warm welcome to the dignitaries, Commanding Officers and ANOs attending theconclave.
The deliberations focused on strengthening NCC training, addressing challenges faced byNCC units and officers, and exploring ways to make NCC activities more effective and impactful forcadets.Maj Gen Anupinder Bevli, VSM, ADG, JK & Ladakh NCC Directorate, while addressing the gathering, highlighted the significant role of youth in nation building and emphasised that NCC plays a vital rolein shaping the personality, character, discipline and leadership qualities of young people.
Heappreciated the efforts of NCC officers and cadets towards nation building and encouraged them tocontinue working with dedication and commitment. Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, also attended the conclave and appreciated thecontribution of NCC at the University.
He stated that NCC is doing commendable work at SMVDUand acknowledged its role in instilling discipline, leadership, confidence and a spirit of service amongthe students.During the conclave, awards and certificates were presented to NCC officers in recognition of theirexemplary contribution and dedicated service.
Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor’s Citations were alsopresented to 4 J&K Battalion NCC and 6 J&K Battalion NCC in recognition of their outstandingcontribution and exemplary work. Lieut. (Dr.) Varun Dutta, NCC Officer, SMVDU, was conferred aCertificate of Distinction and Medallion by the ADG in recognition of his exemplary work andcontribution to NCC activities.
The event was well organised by organising committee comprisingLieut. (Dr.) Varun Dutta, Dr. Rajiv Kumar, NSS Programme Coordinator, and Mr. Surinder Kumar,Assistant Registrar, SMVDU.The conclave served as an important forum for interaction and exchange of ideas among NCCCommanding Officers and ANOs from different regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
The participantsdiscussed practical challenges, shared experiences and explored innovative approaches for furtherenhancing NCC training and activities, with the objective of providing better opportunities and amore meaningful experience to NCC cadets.
