JAMMU: The Department of Mathematics, University of Jammu, today organised an engaging guest lecture by Michael Dorff on the thought-provoking topic, “How Mathematics is Making Hollywood Movies Better.”

During the lecture, Prof. Dorff highlighted how mathematical concepts contribute significantly to modern filmmaking, particularly in animation, special effects, and visual storytelling. He explained that behind the beauty and creativity of Hollywood films lies a strong mathematical foundation that helps create realistic images, smooth motion, and compelling visual experiences.

The lecture was widely appreciated for demonstrating how mathematics extends beyond classrooms and research laboratories into the fields of entertainment and technology. The lecture witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, researchers, and students, who gathered to explore the fascinating role of mathematics in cinema.

The event reflected the Department’s continued commitment towards promoting academic excellence and exposing students to the wider applications of mathematics in contemporary life.
