In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

UDHAMPUR: Udhampur Campus (Garnai-Lotta), University of Jammu, organised a special programme under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan to sensitise students about the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse and promote a healthy, responsible and drug-free lifestyle.

During the programme, students were sensitized to the physical, psychological, social and economic consequences of drug abuse. They were encouraged to stay away from drugs and other addictive substances and actively contribute towards creating a drug-free campus and society. Students were also motivated to spread awareness among their peers, families and communities and contribute towards the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat.

As part of the awareness campaign, the students took a pledge to remain away from drugs and substance abuse and support the mission of building a drug-free India. The pledge reflected their commitment towards maintaining a healthy lifestyle and becoming responsible citizens.

The programme was further complemented by a Tiranga Rally, in which students and faculty members participated enthusiastically. The rally moved through the nearby areas surrounding Udhampur Campus, spreading messages of patriotism, national unity and social responsibility among the local community. Students raised patriotic slogans, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm, while messages promoting national pride and responsible citizenship echoed through the nearby areas.

The Tiranga Rally also provided an opportunity for students to connect with the local community and convey the message that the fight against drug abuse requires the collective participation of students, families, educational institutions and society at large.

Speaking on the occasion, Rector, Udhampur Campus, Prof. Yash Pal Sharma, appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students and emphasised that educational institutions have an important role in creating awareness among young people. He encouraged the students to become ambassadors of positive change and contribute towards building a healthier, safer and Nasha Mukt Bharat.

The programme concluded with a renewed commitment by the students and faculty members to promote patriotism, healthy living, social responsibility and a drug-free society, reinforcing the spirit of unity and collective responsibility.
