NOWSHERA: On the direction of Dr. Rakesh Magotra, Director of Health Services Jammu, and Manohar Rana, Chief Medical Officer of Rajouri, the Kusht Mukti Abhiyan was organized on 2nd October 2024. The event was led by Dr. Iqbal Malik, Block Medical Officer of Nowshera, with the participation of ASHA workers to ensure the message reached the grassroots level.
The purpose of this event was to raise awareness within the community about leprosy, its causes, transmission, signs and symptoms, treatment, prevention, and the social stigma surrounding the disease. The Kusht Mukti Abhiyan was also observed at other health institutions in the Nowshera block.
Various activities were conducted during the event, including a pledge-taking ceremony, awareness campaigns in health institutions, Anganwadi centers, and among the community. Cleanliness drives were also held in health institutions, with an emphasis on early detection and treatment, which is provided free of cost at all health facilities.
The event concluded with a commitment from the health officials and ASHA workers to continue their efforts towards eradicating leprosy by ensuring early detection and treatment. The Kusht Mukti Abhiyan is a crucial step towards achieving the goal of a leprosy-free India and providing quality healthcare to all
