REASI: Department of Social Welfare Reasi, under the auspices of Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik and the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer Sachin Sharma organized a mega Preventive education and awareness generation programme in slum areas of Katra town to sensitize the slum dwellers about the impact of substance dependence. The department, along with Master Volunteers, encouraged the people to accept and seek professional help for treatment and Whole Person Recovery.
An awareness video highlighting the perils of drug addiction on individuals and the society as a whole was screened to sensitize the people. The participants took a solemn pledge to stay away from drug abuse and to make the nation drug free. Helpline number was also shared with the residents for any assistance and to share information to the authorities regarding persons involved in drug trafficking. The programme concluded with an assurance to the public of holding such camps on a regular basis.
